Michael Patrick Lang is an award-winning cinematographer who joined the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600) in 2022. He has two decades of experience crafting cinematic, visually striking work across narrative film, television, and high-end commercial campaigns. Known for his refined eye and disciplined approach to light, Lang creates frames that feel intentionally designed—where performance and lighting meet to produce imagery that is both emotionally grounded and visually elevated.

He earned Best Cinematography honors for Year of the Dog and served as the Nebraska Unit Director of Photography on the Stephen King adaptation 1922. His narrative work is complemented by a strong presence in the commercial and beauty space, where he collaborates with global brands including Warner Bros., Disney, Guinness, Mattel, DC, and Pixar—bringing a cinematic language to projects that demand precision, texture, and a premium finish.

Lang’s work is characterized by motivated practical lighting, strong color contrast, atmospheric environments, dramatic close-ups, and graphic compositions. His experience also includes collaboration with local and federal law enforcement on an FBI initiative involving the CODIS database, providing access to the FBI Crime Laboratory in Quantico and reinforcing his professional, detail-oriented approach.

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Lang brings a grounded perspective and strong work ethic to every set. Outside of filmmaking, he enjoys art, chess, golf, and photography—disciplines that mirror his focus on strategy, detail, and composition.

Based in Los Angeles, Lang continues to partner with directors, agencies, and brands to create bold, cinematic imagery with a distinct point of view.
